Cyber Surgery launches ALAYA.

The first CE-certified Surgical Robotic Assistant for Spine on the market with patented Kinematic Navigation Technology.

Our surgical robotic assistant for spine procedures, ALAYA, is now ready for market. Designed, developed, and manufactured in the Basque Country (Spain), ALAYA is the first robotic spine assistant with patented Kinematic Navigation Technology to enter the market.

This milestone marks a turning point for surgical robotics, establishing Cyber Surgery as a leader in healthcare innovation and paving the way for new phases of commercialization and international growth.

ALAYA, a pioneer in surgical robotics technology

At its heart, ALAYA has our Kinematic Navigation Technology, an internationally patented system that overcomes the limitations of conventional optical navigation technologies. Unlike optical systems, which depend on cameras, calibration, and line of sight, Kinematic Navigation Technology delivers:

  • Continuous, stable tracking in any surgical environment.
  • Reduced radiation exposure for patients and surgeons.
  • Streamlined workflow with faster setup and uninterrupted navigation.
  • Reduced operating room (OR) footprint for easier integration in hospitals.

These advantages make ALAYA a game-changing solution for minimally invasive spine surgical procedures. Our Surgical Robotic Assistant helps reduce risks as bleeding and/or infection risks, shortens patient recovery times, and empowers surgeons with greater precision and efficiency.

Local Leadership with Global Impact.

The launch of ALAYA is a significant milestone in the history of surgical robotics. It is the first robotic spine assistant designed, developed, and manufactured in Basque Country (Spain). Additionally, it is the first in the world to bring CE-certified Kinematic Navigation Technology to the operating room

This achievement reflects Cyber Surgery’s mission to empower surgeons, improve patient outcomes, and transform surgery into safer, less invasive, and more efficient procedures. By combining local and global talent, cutting-edge engineering, and close collaboration with the medical community, ALAYA embodies an innovative model born in Euskadi that now sets new global standards for surgical care.

Born in the Basque Country, certified in Europe, and designed for the world, ALAYA proves that local innovation guided by global ambition can redefine the future of healthcare

A collective achievement

This milestone has been made possible thanks to the talent and dedication of the Cyber Surgery team and the support of a unique collaborative ecosystem of surgeons, healthcare institutions, technology centers, industry partners, and investors.

This achievement is the result of the talent, passion, and dedication of the Cyber Surgery team, as well as the invaluable support of surgeons, healthcare institutions, technology partners, and investors. We would like to express our gratitude to our partners Egile, IMQ, Geroa, the Basque Government Venture Capital Fund, and the business angels who believed in this project from the very beginning. We would also like to thank the technology centers Ceit, Vicomtech, Tecnalia, and Tekniker for their decisive contribution to the development of our technology. We thank the Osakidetza hospitals —Hospital Universitario de Donostia, Hospital Universitario de Cruces, and Hospital Universitario Araba— together with BIOEF and the research institutes IIS BioGipuzkoa, BioBizkaia, and BioAraba, for their participation in clinical trials and validations. Thanks also go to the institutions that have supported us along the way, including the Basque Government and SPRI, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, Fomento San Sebastián, the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and BIC Gipuzkoa. We extend our deepest appreciation to the clinicians leading the clinical trials, Nicolás Samprón (Hospital Universitario de Donostia) and Iñigo Pomposo (Hospital Universitario de Cruces). We also thank the members of our Medical Advisory Board members —Jesús Lafuente, Florian Ringel, Marcel Ivanov, and Roger Härtl— for sharing their knowledge and international perspective.
