R&D Engineer – Robotic Surgery

Description:

Cyber Surgery is looking to strengthen the Robotics team, which is dedicated to researching new technologies and developing new features for image-guided robotic surgeries. The tasks and responsibilities will focus on programming new functionalities, applying regulatory safety requirements and defining the electrical components and schematics for the product, as well as exploring new lines of work and potential future applications in the field of autonomous robotics and mechatronics. Experience in mechatronics will be highly valued.

The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team working in the field of medical robotics and developing its work directly in the robotic assistant. He/She will report to the Head of Robotics Department and collaborate with other team members in defining, designing, and implementing different solutions, as well as in coordinating tests with laboratories and third-party centers.

As part of the team, the candidate will participate in an Agile development environment, following Scrum and SAFe events, which are methodologies implemented in the company. The candidate will take part in refinement sessions and user story descriptions, as well as their planning. Within the team, efforts will be made to foster the development of T-shaped profiles, promoting knowledge sharing among team members.

Objectives

• Participation in the design and implementation of new functionalities for the surgical assistant.

• Definition, implementation and testing of applicable safety standards: focus on electrical and EMC.

• Development of algorithms for the control, monitoring and diagnosis of the surgical assistant

• Participation in the definition, execution, and analysis of experiments.

• Writing protocols and technical/scientific reports.

Requirements:

MSc. Or PhD in Robotics, Mechanics, Electronics, Mechatronics, Biomedical or similar disciplines

  • Programming: Algorithm implementation in languages such as structured text and/or Python.
  • Knowledge of basic robotics: Kinematic chains, dynamics, and control of manipulators.
  • Knowledge of electronics/sensor systems.
  • Applied statistics: General knowledge of statistical techniques and their application.
  • Strong capacity for learning & teamwork.
  • High autonomy.

  Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge in the field of software development, design patterns, and good development practices (Test-Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Git) will be highly valued.
  • Experience with applications such as CoppeliaSim and EPLAN will be a plus.
  • Experience in medical device development.
